Every Celebrations muse us with many magic words. Like
Diwali – ‘Sweets’, ‘family’,’fireworks’
Thanksgiving – ‘Turkey’, ‘ Dinner’, ‘Shopping’
New Year – “Resolutions”
Yes, that’s the one word that come to my mind “Resolutions”. You know our mind doesn’t stop with that. Why it is called Resolutions?? Guess what next search Google 🙂

YES!!! We cross checked they named it right. Mind is a monkey it won’t stop with that….
What’s my 2018 Resolutions? I can’t even remember it all. One resolution I remember is practicing yoga, but i didn’t follow.

Simon Sinek says “Start with why ?” so let’s start with why???
Go back and read the definition of resolution, it says firm DECISION. That’s right, it’s a decision, plan, intent. We are “The Experts” in making plan no doubt. We have checklists, planners, to do list, amazing apps, etc… etc… YET.
The Question WHY? led me further…….. Research conducted involving 3000 people at University of Bristol showed that 88% of people who set resolutions FAILED!
I need more evidence, whether everyone set similar resolutions like me and only think about those during December.

Interesting…… Above chart represents the worldwide search volume for words “diet”, “gym”, “yoga” and “weight loss” from 2014 to present. Maximum number of searches for all these words are only between December to January.
So, I am not the only one YAY 🙂 (I can hear your mind voice too)
When I started asking WHY? It also led to HOW?
Here are 5 ways to turn your RESOLUTIONS to REALITY.
Step 1: Take Small Steps
We learnt or heard about ‘S.M.A.R. T’ – Specific, Measurable, Achievable,Realistic and Time Bound. Implement that in a simple way.
– Replace “Doing Yoga” to ” 3 Asanas after brushing for 3days”
– Replace “Diet” to “Eat an apple after lunch on weekdays”
Now it turns to be simple and easy to follow.
Step 2: HABITS not RESOLUTIONS
When we drill down all our resolutions it converges to our daily habits. It can be

small steps like
Resolution : Wake up early
Change of Habit : Instead of waking up at 7 am wake up at 6 am
Resolution : Eat healthy
Creation of Habit : Eat almonds at 4 pm
Step 3: Numbers are Important
Another reason Resolutions are not successful is, it becomes Overwhelming and Exhausting. Too many changes to our mind, body and lifestyle are the causes. Focus on 2 to 3 habits at a time. When it becomes habitual like brushing our teeth, driving a car move on to next 3. Slow and steady wins the race.
Step 4: Assess
We are thinking about 2018 resolutions while framing our resolutions for 2019. That will create self-doubt and question our commitment. Instead we should assess ourselves every month or at least a quarter. Self-motivated people track every day. That’s right!!!
But other group like me get help from friends and family. I will usually seek help of my son. Kids love tossing their parents. Obviously, we will have greater accountability that our kids are watching and to be an example.
Step 5: Feel It
EMOTIONS MAKES US HUMAN said Victor Klein. Feelings are inseparable from us. We define our day only by how we feel. This step is the important of all. The very first day you start doing a habit you should feel it. Feel the joy of walking, feel happy that you took the first step. Enjoy it every time. This makes this journey joyful and effortless.
When you do the new routine with rejoice it will push us automatically, that is the power of our subconscious.
Step 6 : Embark ON
Power of Now amplifies our Productivity in multiples. It will brings enthusiasm in all aspects of life. So why wait till New Year, start working on from Now.
We started with Resolutions and ended up researching on Habits. Sometimes wandering thoughts creates wonders when its start asking WHY? Your musings will turn to Miracles only by ‘ACTION‘. Track your ACTIONs.
Dream listing your Desired outcomes on December 2019 before defining Resolutions for 2020.
